Contact

FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE, view the video on a mobile device holding it vertically, and rotate the screen at other angles (e.g. upside-down, sideways vertically).

Welcome to the hourglass, dune of our times.

Walk inside and become part of the sands, sending signals, reaching out to each other. Each at contact, not contract. close your eyes to listen how you are close to the surroundings, both virtual and actual. Listen, sound of frictions, fzzzzsss, we touch. Screaming at screening.

"Contact" is an immersive ASMR-inspired sound piece that explores the tapestry of connection through the metaphor of oceanic communication. Much like whales whose haunting calls traverse the vast expanse of the blue ocean, this piece contemplates the nature of connection across the invisible waves of our digital era. Through sound, whales reach out, their calls traveling through water, enveloping others in an auditory embrace that transcends the boundaries of space.

In the digital world, our interactions unfold through the glass interfaces of our devices, connected by a seamless electronic network. This piece poses a poignant question: in this web of instantaneous connections, are we truly with the other? the piece delves into the soothing, textural sounds of sand—each grain whispering tales of friction and closeness, suggesting that true togetherness might indeed reside within these minute frictions and rustlings.

The sound piece weaves ASMR elements—hands caressing various fabrics evoking the rush of ocean waves, a microphone buried in sands capturing the intimate grating of particles—to create a surround sound experience. Whether presented through four-channel speakers or within a VR environment, it envelops the listener in a sensory journey inviting a reflection on the ways we connect and the nature of contact in a digitally mediated world.
